  • Mr. Karkar's predominant areas of practice are banking and finance, companies and securities, professional negligence, mining and petroleum and commercial law generally. He has been retained in some of the leading cases in these areas, and in many other general commercial cases involving insurance, trade practices and contractual disputes.

    In addition to appearing before the courts, Mr. Karkar has been involved in a number of public and private inquiries, such as the Poker Machine inquiry, the proceeding to de-register the Builders Labourers Federation and inquiries under the companies legislation.

    Between June 1982 and December 1994, Mr. Karkar was editor of the Victorian Reports, and he is presently consulting editor of those reports.
