David specialises in building and construction disputes; planning; local government; water and drainage, including claims under the Water Act; and environmental matters.
Prior to signing the Bar Roll David was a Senior Associate in the construction and construction insurance sections of Phillips Fox. He completed his articles at Phillips Fox having previously worked at the Housing Guarantee Fund as a law clerk and mediation co-ordinator. He commenced his articles at the Fund.
Prior to studying law, David was a registered builder and member of the Master Builders Association. He had previously worked as a building inspector and surveyor.
David was a member of the Building Appeals Board from 1996 to 2003. David's position on the Board required extensive knowledge and application of administrative law principles and interpretation of the Building Act 1993, and other Acts, Standards and Codes relevant to the building industry.
David was an executive member of the Australian Institute of Building Surveyors between 1997 and 2001. He served as vice-president of the Institute for 3 of those years as well as convenor of the Institute's professional practice committee. |
