Prior to coming to the bar, Lana worked for Allens Arthur Robinson and Gadens Lawyers.
At Allens, Lana practiced in the Commercial Litigation/Corporate Restructuring and Insolvency department. She worked predominately in a team which advised the deed administrators of a large publicly listed company how to deal with shareholder claims post the decision of Sons of Gwalia. Particularly, she assisted with the reconstruction of certain contracts, interviewing former directors and officers of the company, and drafting witness statements.
At Gadens, Lana practiced in the Banking and Finance Litigation department. Under the supervision of her partner, she was responsible for running the litigation files of one of the top four banks. She gained experience in many aspects of banking and finance and insolvency law, her matters ranging from disputes relating to the Consumer Credit Code, the Trade Practices Act, the Corporations Act and the Bankruptcy Act. She also gained hands-on experience in drafting pleadings, affidavits and witness statements, and regularly instructed counsel at appeals, trials, and all manner of interlocutory applications. In 2006, she was seconded to the Commonwealth Bank of Australia’s in-house legal team (litigation) for a short period.
Lana is currently studying for her Masters of Laws at Monash University. To date, she has completed subjects in Advocacy Theory and Practice, Negotiation and Mediation and Corporate Insolvency.
