  • Meredith practices predominantly in commercial law, and has also advised and appeared in administrative law and taxation matters. Since joining the Victorian Bar in May 2006 she has appeared in all jurisdictions, both alone and as junior counsel in complex commercial cases.

    Meredith obtained the Juris Doctor degree at the University of Melbourne in December 2003, graduating with a first-class honours average. She was awarded the Melbourne JD Dean's Award for the student placed first in her year. Meredith completed Articles at Mallesons Stephen Jaques in 2004. Prior to coming to the Bar, Meredith was Associate to Justice Dodds-Streeton of the Supreme Court of Victoria. During this period her Honour was Judge-in-Charge of the specialized Commercial List, under the Commercial and Equity Division.

    Examples of Recent Matters.

  • Lowe v Mack Trucks Australia Pty Limited [2008] FCA 439 – appeared for the defendant, Mack Trucks, in month-long trial involving merchantability/fitness for purpose claims under the Trade Practices Act 1974 (Cth). See also Lowe v Mack Trucks Australia Pty Limited (No 2) [2008] FCA 711 (costs).


  • Re: Project Wickenby (2007-ongoing) - briefed by the Commissioner of Taxation (with senior counsel) to prepare detailed advice in relation to the application of Australian taxation laws to various offshore entities.


  • Metropolitan Fire and Emergency Services Board v Malcolm Gordon, Supreme Court, 2007, advised and appeared (with senior counsel) on behalf of the MFESB in restraint of trade/ confidential information matter.


  • MPA Motors Pty Ltd v McLeod Trees Pty Ltd [2007] VCAT 2240 – Retail Tenancies dispute.


  • Campbell v Attard & Ors [2008 VSC 349] – appeared for insurer/insured in judicial review of decision of the Medical Panel under the Wrongs Act 1958.


  • Against Animal Cruelty Tasmania Inc., prepared successful objection to decision of the Commissioner of Taxation on the taxpayer’s tax concession charity status.


  • 2007 and 2008, engaged as examining advocate in the Monash Graduate Certificate of Forensic Studies (Accounting) and University of Melbourne Graduate Certificate in Forensic Studies (Accounting).
