Damien practices in emissions trading and revenue law.

Dual qualified in law and accounting, his areas of expertise include climate change and emissions trading law, income tax (and capital gains), state taxes, property planning and environment law and administrative law. He is an Adjunct Professor in the Faculty of Law at Bond University, where he teaches Climate Change and Emissions Trading Law.

Before being called to the Bar, Damien was a partner in the leading legal and accounting firms of Ernst & Young, Baker & McKenzie and Freehills.

Damien's experience spans 25 years and covers environmental and carbon exposures, accounting and green reporting, and revenue law consequences and planning, in:

  • corporate business activities, property structuring and environmentally focused investments;
  • cross-border and domestic business restructures and mergers and acquisitions;
  • complex financial and derivatives arrangements;
  • Government privatisations; and infrastructure projects.

    • Damien is a Nationally Accredited Mediator. His litigation and dispute resolution services include:

  • litigating on behalf of clients in Federal and State civil and administrative Tribunals, Supreme Courts and Courts of Appeal, Federal Court of Australia and High Court of Australia;
  • acting as a mediator, and representation in ADR; and
  • negotiating (environmental and revenue) audits and disputes.

    • Damien is a Fellow of Leadership Victoria. He is also a reserve Officer of the Royal Australian Air Force.
