Following his admission to the Brisbane Bar in 1989, Peter has practised in a wide range of litigation and mediation, primarily comprising commercial disputes and common law claims, but also including family law, crime and personal injury cases.After taking Silk in 2004, Peter has continued to enjoy a broad practice at both an appellate and trial level, including the following cases:
- a High Court appeal which held that workers compensation insurers can conduct common law master/servant cases inconsistently with medical panel impairment assessments (2011);
- the Criminal defence of a State Commissioner of Police who was charged with disclosing official secrets to the then Premier (2009);
- a long running coronial inquest into the destruction by fire of a major urban retail store, in which he appeared for Myer and its insurer (2009);
- a discrimination claim by a homosexual man arising out of the refusal of the Red Cross to permit him to donate blood (2008);
- an application for the grant of Letters of Administration in respect of the estates of 17 unidentified deceased Aboriginals, whose remains, dating back to at least the early 1800's, were held by the British Museum (2007);
- a Federal Court trial, in which Senator Bob Brown sought to restrain logging in an old growth forest (2006)
- a High Court appeal which held that freedom of speech effectively prohibits the making of injuctions restraining defamation (2006);
