Marie was admitted to practice as a solicitor in England and Wales in 2002 where she worked at leading law firms. She specialized in commercial litigation working in particular on test cases involving questions of Competition Law and EU Law in the Court of Appeal and in the European Court of Justice.

Marie was admitted as a solicitor in Victoria in 2005. She joined the Bar in 2007. At the Bar she practices in the areas of commercial, corporations, trade practices, professional negligence in the Supreme Court and County Court.

Marie has also experience in the Federal Magistrates court and Family Court where she appears in Family Law matters.

Marie provides opinions and drafts court documents and detailed witness statements.

Cases in which Marie has been involved include:

  • Supreme Court: claim for alleged breach of contract in respect of catalogue production and distribution savings against a large corporation: acting on behalf of the Plaintiff as junior to Michael Heaton QC.
  • Supreme Court/Court Appeal: involved an award under the Property Law Act 1958, and on the question of interests and costs. This case also examines the interests of third parties and priorities.
  • Supreme Court: appeal from a decission of VCAT, question of evidence not available at hearing. Case related to a claim for breach of contract and alleged misleading conduct.
  • Various applications setting aside or varying freezing orders in the County Court.
  • Administrative law: An application for review of a decision against a professional board for failure to register a practitioner.
  • Loan agreement disputes and partnership disputes including claims of alleged fraud or misappropriation of funds.
  • Professional Negligence: including against a real estate agent and a superannuation management company.
Marie also speaks French, German, & Greek.
