Chris Gunson was admitted to practice as a barrister and solicitor in Tasmania in 1998 and joined the independent bar in 2005. Chris has regularly appeared in the Supreme Court of Tasmania together with other courts and tribunals since his admission to practice. He has also appeared in the Full Court and the Court of Criminal Appeal.

Chris's practice currently includes personal injuries, criminal law, fisheries, medical negligence, commercial litigation, employment, administrative law, professional discipline, and a wide range of general litigation. Chris has acted extensively for both insurers and plaintiffs in personal injuries matters and general litigation since he was admitted to practice. Chris is also the Treasurer of the Tasmanian Bar Association.

  • Chris has been an Army Reserve officer since 1994, initially as a logistics officer; and as a legal officer since 2001. As a legal officer his work has included the provision of disciplinary advice and appearances as counsel before Defence Force magistrates to both prosecute and defend matters under the Defence Force Discipline Act 1982 (and associated offences against the Criminal Code (Cth)).

    Chris is married to Irena, and has a young family.
