Since graduating in Law and Arts from Monash University in 1990, David completed articles with Rennick Gaynor Kiddle Briggs in Melbourne and worked as a solicitor at Rennick & Gaynor in Camberwell. In his 6 years with that firm David had the conduct of commercial proceedings including contractual and building disputes, product liability, trade practices and intellectual property matters. He also conducted negligence, personal injury and public liability claims, summary and indictable criminal proceedings, wills and probate and deceased estate matters.

David developed a significant administrative law practice including Social Security, Mental Health and Migration appeals. He specialized in mental health and criminal law and appeared regularly before the Mental Health Review Board, Guardianship and Administration Board, Administrative Appeals Tribunal and Magistrates' Court in relation to such matters.

David signed the Roll of Counsel in 1998 and practices predominantly in the Magistrates' and County Court criminal and civil jurisdictions, and VCAT. He has particular interest in the law relating to Mental Health, Civil Liberties, Medical Negligence and Intellectual Property.

David enjoys playing and writing music, restoring classic cars and surfing.
