Julian was educated at Xavier College and attended Queens College whilst studying for his degree. He also undertook further studies in the areas of Evidence, Landlord and Tenant, Banking Law, Aviation Law and Damages as part of a Master of Laws at Monash University.
In 1996 Julian was appointed as a part time mediator to the Domestic Building Tribunal and was elected to the Committee of Mediators of that body. In 1997 he was appointed as assistant examiner in law by Deakin University. He is also a part time lecturer with the Detective Training School (Victoria) in the area of mediation methods and procedures.
Julian practices in the areas of construction law, employment law, shipping and transport law, commercial law and all areas of common law. He is an accredited mediator ( LEADR) and views mediation as a most cost effective dispute resolution forum. Julian is also a Sessional Mediator with VCAT and the Office of Small Business Commissioner. Julian is accredited by the Victorian Bar as an Advanced Mediator.
Julian lectures at Deakin University on a sessional basis through the University”s private arm, Deakin Prime, to industry groups in the area of Workplace Law. The subjects he lectures in include Contract Law,Torts, Insurance Law, Occupational Health and Safety, Design Law, Copyright and Patents, Trade Practices and Environmental Law.
Julian is a member of the VCAT Mediators Committee and Mediates in the Domestic Building List, Retail Tenancy List and Real Property List. He is also a Mediator for the Small Business Commissioner.
He holds appointments to the Commonwealth Franchisees Mediation Panel as well as the Produce and Grocery Panel.
Julian was legal Correspondent for SME (Small to Medium Enterprises) Magazine published by P.B.L. He has also published articles in the Law Institute Journal, Victorian Bar News and the Building Dispute Practioners Journal on Employment Law and Mediation.
Julian is on the Bar A.D.R. Committee.
Julian is married with 3 children.
