Ross Gordon and Leigh Jackson were appointed as Clerks to List "S" effective 20th January 1997. Their appointment followed the retirement of Ken Spurr after 50 years service to the Bar, the last 35 of which was as Clerk to List "S".

Ross and Leigh bring to the Clerkship over 70 years involvement in the profession both as practitioners and administrators. They possess a sound understanding of the market for Barrister's services and a committment to the provision of high quality clerking services to the profession.

The List is known simply as "Gordon & Jacksons List".

LEIGH JACKSON was educated at Melbourne High School and Melbourne University, where he graduated Bachelor of Laws in 1969. He undertook his Articles with the firm of Lester Pearn and Fielden of Oakleigh and after 5 years joined Hall and Wilcox.

In 1974 Leigh joined the Legal Aid Committee and in 1985 was appointed the Director of the Assignments Division, a position he held until his departure from VLA in May 1996.

ROSS GORDON was educated at Camberwell Grammar and Melbourne University, where he graduated Bachelor of Laws and Bachelor of Commerce in 1975. Ross also holds a Graduate Diploma in Management (RMIT). He is an Associate Fellow of the Australian Institute of Management and was accredited as a Specialist in Criminal Law with the Law Institute of Victoria. Ross undertook his Articles with Mallesons and in 1978 joined the Legal Aid Committee, now Victoria Legal Aid. Ross held a number of positions including those of Solicitor-in-Charge of the Frankston and Ringwood offices and in 1991 was appointed Director of the Criminal Law Division, a position he held until his departure from VLA in May 1996.

MICHAEL ROWAN has been in the service of the Bar for approximately 32 years the last 27 as a Barristers Clerk in the employ of Ken Spurr and more recently Gordon and Jackson. He brings to the office a wealth of experience in dealing with the profession.
